Jack Staff Vol. 1:
Everything used to be Black and White
The first series of Jack Staff was self-published in b/w through Paul's own Dancing Elephant Press. He had planned to collect it in three books (Yesterday's Heroes; Secrets, Shadows and the Spider; Out of Time). More than halfway through (and after the first paperback collection), Image Comics showed interest in picking up the series and publishing Jack Staff in colour. They started a new ongoing series, while Paul finished the first one as self-publisher, and later Image Comics collected all 12 self-published books in one hefty tome which became Jack Staff Vol. 1.
